Lifeboat crew praised during rescue of Mv Swanland

A LLŶN lifeboat crew has now been praised for its bravery by the head
of the RNLI. The UK operations director, Michael Vlasto sent a letter
to the crew of Porthdinllaen Lifeboat thanking them for their work
during the mission to help the "Swanland" when it sank around 10 miles
off the Llŷn Peninsula.

Five volunteer crew members were on board the RNLB Hetty Rampton, with
Second Coxswain Robert Jones, when it was launched at 2.45 am on Nov 27, 2011.

The crew had to contend with gale force nine winds into a very rough and
confused sea. Two crew members were rescued alive, but five other crew members
were never found.
