Inland storage vessel M/T Alpsray exploded on Tuesday the 29th March 2011
The German inland storage tanker m/t Alpsray 1,125 gt built in 1954 exploded at the BP refinery Lingen. The ship had 900 tons super benzol on board.
The vessel sank after various explosions at a water depth of 3.5 metres. The accident happended during loading works. Large amounts of oil leaked out. The crew of 5 managed to escape. The fire rescue service were able to get the blaze under control.
